Operation teamwork launches

Organisations in Dudley borough will join forces to launch operation teamwork later this month.

The operation, arranged by safe & sound,Dudley’s community safety partnership, aims to get communities working with partners to make positive improvements in their neighbourhood.

Teamwork will set up base inClaycroft Place, Lye, on August 17, at Valley Road Community Centre and August 18 atClaycroft Placecommunity centre and in Kates Hill atSt Thomas’s Network, on August 23 and 24.

safe & sound partners who will be on hand to offer advice and support to residents, include Dudley Council’s housing staff, trading standards, sport and physical activity, licensing, waste enforcement, street cleansing and youth offending teams, police, fire service, adult drug services, aquarius, NACRO service, Age UK, domestic abuse representatives and hate crime services.

They will also be carrying out a number of activities including litter picking, removal of fly-tipping and abandoned vehicles and cleaning up graffiti. Housing managers will also hold surgeries.

People can register their mobile phones on a national database called immobilise which helps police identify the owner of lost and stolen phones.

Residents can also book a free home fire risk assessment by calling 0121 380 7549 and asking for Stourbridge station for appointments in Lye andDudleystation for appointments in Kates Hill.

In Kates Hill, activities for young people including football, basketball, climbing wall and mountain bike obstacle courses at the multi-use games area onWatsons Green Roadfrom11amto4pm.

All residents who come along will be able to access advice about preventing  burglary and will receive a free property marking kit to help both deter burglars and make it easier to identify your belongings if they are stolen.

Councillor Tim Wright, cabinet member responsible for community safety, said:

“It’s great to see safe & sound partners pulling together to make such a positive contribution in these areas.”
