New women’s support groups

Four new support groups for women are being set up across the Dudley borough to celebrate International Women’s Week.

safe & sound,Dudley’s community safety partnership, is working with Churches Housing Association of Dudley District (CHADD) to launch the groups at venues across the borough.

The groups are being set up to give women acrossDudleythe chance to get together, have a chat and support each other through difficult times.  There will also be a chance to take part in creative sessions.

Groups will launch on Monday 12 March at The Gallery,Dudleytown centre and Tuesday 13 March at Woodside children’s centre both start at1.30pmand run until3.30pm.

They will also run at both Quarry Bank and Wren’s Nest children’s centres on the 20 March and 22 March respectively from10amto1pm.

All sessions will run on a fortnightly basis and women can come along on their own or with their children and each session costs 50p which goes towards the running of the groups.

Councillor Tim Wright, cabinet member responsible for community safety, said:

“International Women’s Week is a great opportunity to launch these groups. The groups highlight the importance of providing a support network for women in the borough and will give them the opportunity to meet new friends and learn from shared experiences.”
